Overview

Adrianna came in for both cosmetic and functional reasons. Adrianna had poor function due to allergic rhinitis and a deviated nasal septum (DNS). Her NPIF (Nasal Peak Inspiratory Function) was 70% of what it should have been based on her gender, weight and age.

Adrianna had Rhinospetoplasty turbinate reduction. The surgery was done with the open approach and there were no complications. The skin was elevated and the hump removed. Lateral osteotomies were performed to refine her nose and remove the hump. The septum was straightened with a septoplasty. The turbinates were reduced inside to increase Adriana’s breathing. She had the diamond tip; Cephalic tip, dome division and internal and external domal stitches.

We asked Adrianna a few questions…

What were your dislikes or concerns with your nose?

I pretty much hated everything about my nose, especially the profile. It made me feel very self-conscious.

Besides the issues with the form, were there any functional issues?

Yes, I certainly did have functional issues. I could hardly breathe through my nose and I was always on nasal sprays (which did not do much to help). It was especially difficult when I would exercise because I was struggling to get air through my nostrils, so I would have to breathe through my mouth.

How did you find your surgery and recovery?

I was really excited about the surgery. It went very well. The recovery also went really well, as I followed the notes that were given after the post-op visits. I am still, to this day, extremely impressed with the whole recovery process and weekly check-ins from Dr Mooney and the team. It just shows how dedicated you are to your patients.

Were you impressed with the results? Do you have any feedback?

I am very impressed with my results!!!!! I love it! Not only can I breathe now, but my nose looks natural which was a very important aspect of this decision. I can’t thank Dr Mooney enough!!! And of course the Nurses on the team for all of the weekly check-ups and information. Thank you for making this experience a really great one.
